Ron Arad

Ron Arad (Tel Aviv, Israel, 1951) is an industrial designer and architect. He received his training from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, in Jerusalem, and the Architectural Association School of Architecture, in London. Apart from his professional career as architect and designer, he has also pursued a career in teaching as professor of Design Products at Royal College of Art in London and at Vienna's Hochschule. He was awarded the London Design Week Medal for design excellence in 2011 and in 2013 he was elected as a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Art in London. Ron Arad’s constant experimentation with the possibilities of materials such as steel, aluminium or polyamide and his radical reconception of the form and structure of furniture has put him at the forefront of contemporary design. Alongside his limited edition studio work, Arad also designs for many leading international companies including Kartell, Vitra, Moroso, Fiam, Driade, Alessi, Cappellini, Cassina, WMF and Magis among others.
