The Fall 2003 season at Macro presented an exceptional program of exhibitions. Five major solo shows (27 September 2003 – 4 January 2004), including one by Vik Muniz, featuring selected works and 14 portraits made for the occasion. The Brazilian artist lives and works in New York, and is considered one of the most important protagonists of the contemporary world art scene. The works of Vik Muniz are made with the most unusual materials, such as sugar, chocolate, sand, wool yarn and gelatin, with the aim of engaging all the senses of the viewer. His photographic works are included in the world’s finest collections: from the Metropolitan Museum to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago to the Fondation Cartier in Paris.
