Richard Tuttle (*1941 in Rahway, New Jersey) has worked in close collaboration with the Kunsthaus Zug as the “in-house artist” for almost twenty years. Through fragile, mostly small, subtle paintings as well as sculptural objects and three-dimensional installations, he continues to explore special features of the museum’s architecture or selected works from its collection. Tuttle poses questions about endurance and continuity, rhythm and repetition in the various cultures of contemporary global society. An elaborately designed artist’s book, with eighteen cards loosely bound by square knots and round grommets, the publication reflects not only the artist’s affinity for the Asian concept of time as a cycle and the eternal return of the same, but also demonstrates the currency and reliability of traditional bookbinding through the radical renewal of art.\nBesides the regular edition, seventy-two copies with a hand-painted slipcase and special design are available exclusively from the Kunsthaus Zug, numbered and signed.
