Atlas focused on an unsettling personal archive of more than 5,000 images that Richter began collecting in 1962 and that continues to grow as he gradually adds to it: Atlas, a compilation of images that question the crisis of cultural memory in post-war Germany. Volume six of the ‘Llibres de recerca’ collection, Photography and Painting in the Work of Gerhard Richter, was published to coincide with this exhibition.
