Luciano Fabro (1936 – 2007), an important artist in the “Arte Povera” movement, has incarnated, in his own way, the concept of autonomy throughout his career as both artist and teacher. He has managed to maintain both a critical approach and an analytical attitude which has brought him to question the autonomy of the artist, the work of art and their relationship to the city. Through a significant production of theoretical texts, he has defended the idea that the domain of the arts is the space where liberty is a form of committed dilettantism and the oeuvre the result of the position of author.\nThe book Luciano Fabro, Inhabiting Autonomy brings together an ensemble of contributions, which propose to study the reach of the works of art and the commitment of Luciano Fabro within the perspectives of art today.
