A comparison between several artistic languages: the sculpture consisting of thin elements of Paolo Icaro and the photographs of Luigi Ghirri converse with the architecture of Carlo Scarpa in the spaces of the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice.

The catalogue accompanying the eponymous exhibition, curated by Chiara Bertola and Giuliano Sergio, is the second part of the research programme linked to the Luigi Ghirri Fund, which saw the publication in 2016 of the first volume Paesaggi d’aria. Luigi Ghirri e Yona Friedman/Jean-Baptiste Decavèle. The estate aims to promote research into and the valorization of the work of the Emilian photographer, by pairing it thematically with artists who evoke his sensitivity.

The sculptures of Paolo Icaro chosen for the exhibition mainly consist of plaster, a material that preserves the impression made by the quick gesture that shaped it, recalling what is no longer visible and tying in with the idea of Ghirri’s photography where he is capable of portraying «the space that separates him from things».
