This is what hatred did

In 1964 Amos Tutuola wrote “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts”. Soon after he fled the country to escape the violence to a book that would be a revolution in contemporary African fiction reactions. The story told by a young child, using a very basic, direct, naive and repetitive style, manages to convey the magic and absurd aspect that war and religion infuse to Nigerian reality. Cristina de Middel’s book aims to provide a contemporary illustrated version of this story and the adaptation of the characters, space and the environment to the real situation of Nigeria.
