First edition. Moscow was published in the year that Leonid Brezhnev succeeded Nikita Khrushchev as leader of the Soviet Union. In his introduction Salisbury declares that the people of Moscow ‘know that the moments for relaxation, for gaiety, for ease and comfort, are rare and may be fleeting. They enjoy them while they may and to the fullest. Such a moment in history is now occurring. And this is the moment and the Moscow that these photographs depict.’
