In a silent waynis a way to photograph and to comprehend photography. It verses on ways to influence appearances in search of possible truths, those belonging to the photographer. No need to be overly inquisitive about or to delve too far into these images. Neither street nor road maps are necessary. Nor do the images trigger a desire to enjoy the city and visit its highlights … it simply isn’t possible to do everything at once.nThe photographic time frame imposes a search similar to a spy’s cold-hearted actions as described by James Agee. While inspecting the Burroughs’ family home and its emptiness, he was able to move about and act in ways he wouldn’t have done with another presence in the house.nOne is as bedazzled as if before the silence of an owl in flight, instants prior to trapping its prey; a simple observation, void of opinions and value judgments. The camera simply registers the information of most use to the creation of the photograph. One can hardly hear the shutter as it releases to captures the light. This is my understanding of Antonio’s photographs in Tokyo.
