The ‘Future Archives’ Conversation Series Volume II explores the most
fundamental aspects related to architectural archives and libraries
around the world. The series consists of ten dialogues, hosted
by Estrella de Diego, Professor at the Universidad Complutense
of Madrid and Academician at the Royal Academy of Arts of San
Fernando; and Hans Ulrich Obrist, art curator, critic and historian of
art and Artistic Director of the Serpentine, London.
The experts featured in these conversations are leading experts
in the field of archives and specialists across architecture, art,
literature and historical artefacts. Coming from distinct places and
backgrounds but united by their expertise, the conversations feature
Deborah Berke, Beatriz Colomina, Dennis Crompton, Edmund de
Waal, Kenneth Frampton, Julia Gonella, Justin Gunther, Phyllis
Lambert, Frederic Migayrou and Andrew Perchuk. From a spoken
conversation to a carefully edited chapter, the most pressing issues
concerning the future of archives are presented in this book, which
serves as a reference for scholars across various fields.
This is the second volume in the Norman Foster Foundation’s
Conversation Series, an initiative from the Education + Research
Unit, whose mission is to transfer advanced knowledge in a wide
range of design fields.
