First edition. Christian Belpaire was a noted Belgian photojournalist and later an advertising photographer. These photographs are of the Yanomami Indians who live in the Amazon Rainforest along the border between Venezuela and Brazil. The subjects are often in ceremonial dress and make-up and many have incorporated Western goods such as nail clippers, plastic items and pieces of clothing into their dress, clearly they are already used to putting on shows for visitors.
