Guided tours of the exhibition ‘Jean Prouvé 1901 – 1984: Industrial Beauty’

On Thursday, 6 October at 17:30 and at 18:30 two guided tours of the exhibition Jean Prouvé 1901 – 1984: Industrial Beauty were offered as part of the Architecture Week staged by COAM Foundation. Curated by the British architect Norman Foster and Luis Fernández-Galiano, Professor of Projects at ETSAM in Madrid, this exhibition traces Prouvé’s entire career. The exhibition, which ran until 12 November, included a large number of pieces of furniture, architectural models and fragments of buildings, among which was the renowned 6×6 House: a spectacular full-scale prototype that is also a manifest of Prouvé’s interest in lightness and prefabrication in architecture.

The journey through his work moreover included drawings, photographs and significant objects produced by Prouvé, from institutions like the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, the Departmental Archives of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Nancy and Patrick Seguin gallery in Paris. On Monday, 3 October, Vitra presented the Prouvé RAW collection in its Madrid showroom. It consisted of nine pieces of furniture designed by Jean Prouvé and reinterpreted by G-Star in collaboration with Vitra and the Prouvé family.
