Eiji Inas colorful photographs of industrial waste are both seductive and frightening. Ina has photographed Japans waste sites since the early 1990s, creating a body of work that is fascinating for its visual beauty, and disturbing for the truths it tells. Crushed glass, discarded printing plates, mountains of wood chips and metal shavings are a part of our existence, and of the history of our future. Inas curiosity about industrial waste its creation, storage and disposal is contagious. His ability to create aesthetically beautiful photographs from this material, while never losing sight of the thing itself, is masterful. Printed in a first edition of 1,000 copies.
