Olafur Eliasson: Werke / Works 1994 2015
He rose to international fame with translations of natural physical phenomena into spectacular works of art: Olafur Eliasson (b. Copenhagen, 1967; lives and works in Berlin and Copenhagen) examines elementary substances and basic materials such as water or light to create reflections and mirror effects. In striking experiments, he toys with the viewers perceptions and expectations. A selection of expansive installations, photographs, objects, and an outdoor sculpture are now on display in the setting of Tadao Andos architecture at the Langen Foundation in Neuss. The works created between 1994 and 2015 stem from one of the biggest private collections of works by the Danish artist with icelandic roots. The accompanying book presents a view of Eliassons art from the collectors perspective while also offering a survey of the artists oeuvre. Introduction by Christiane Maria Schneider, essays by Christian Boros, Bruno Latour, and Joanna Warsza, interview with the artist by Olafur Eliasson himself.
