Never Coming Home

Thousands of miles from the desert sands of Iraq, America is rarely reminded that it is a nation at war. For a growing number of families all across the US, however, the war is very real. The soldiers who were killed in Iraq are buried every week in America. Their funerals are not dramatic events of national consequence or soul searching for those not touched by the war. Many families want to grieve privately. Most want to remember their children and fathers as heroes who have died for all of us. But behind the pomp and tradition of a military ceremony, it is a time of great loss and grief, sometimes even, doubt.
