Miradas de mujeres
The artist Isabelle de Borchgrave (1946) is known for her wonderful sculptures in paper and textiles. She invites us in Miradas de Mujeres (The female regard) to step into the home of Frida Kahlo (19071954), the famous Casa Azul, via a magnificent trompe loeil universe constructed entirely from paper. De Borchgrave depicts an entire Kahlo world cupboards, carpets, cactuses, trees, dresses and jewellery in paper and colours that remind us of the artists joie de vivre, a side of her that is frequently forgotten. The resulting publication is a gem in the form of a leporello or concertina book. It includes a foreword by Alberto Ruy (chief editor of Artes magazine in Mexico) and Michel Draguet (director of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels).
