The last page of the catalogue carries the imprint “Printed in March 1936” according to the two artists’ desire to respect their way of life entirely plunged into other decades. The essay, which includes long extraits of an intriguing and interesting conversation between the author and the artists, is interspersed with photographs by Wouter Deruytter and Peppe Avallone which are on loan from the personal archive of David McDermott and Peter McGough. The two artists, tired of New York life style and fascinated by Hollywood 1930s movies, set back the clock of their existence by a hundred years: in 1984 they showed a series of oils dated 1884 and since then have experimented living in the past. The collection of the works reproduced in color date from 1984 to 1995.
