Jerarquias de Intimidad

During the past decade Luis González Palma shot to fame as the most important photographer in Latin America. Around 1985 the Guatemalan, who had graduated as an architect, made his first photographs of dancers and actors with a borrowed camera. The theatrical aspects of these staged portraits were the basis for his later autonomous work. Stretching the traditional boundaries of the medium by incorporating his painted and scratched photographs in small installations, González Palma built a new visual language which he has applied to an investigation of the tragic heritage of colonialism, the subjugation of the native cultures of Guatemala, and more recently which reflect on the mysteries and tensions in interpersonal relationships. This book brings together a series of projects created since his move to Córdoba, Argentina in 2001.
