Fumetti

In the Fumetti series John Stezaker continues with his work with publicity film portraits, but compared to previous series that worked with old bromides, the portraits in Fumetti have been taken from film annuals of the 1950s and 1960s. \n\n\nHere he destroys the unity of the depictions from a past, glamorous era by taking apart the faces of actors with their perfect hairdos and makeup and putting them back together to make monstrous hybrids. \n\nThe title Fumetti refers to an Italian comic tradition that uses photographs rather than illustrations.
