Epiphamania
Religious and spiritual pilgrimages have an unquestionable otherworldly aura about them, something beyond and outside time. Deprived from carnal pleasures and worldly desires, pilgrims are stripped down to their basic humanity.\n\nThe performative experience of returning pilgrims is nearly always of spiritual vigour and eminent internal peace. Lightly treading in a space earnestly occupied by millions of pilgrims over hundreds of years, the body tunes into harmony with an elevation of thought, and a heightened spiritual awareness of mind, body and soul.\n\nThe brutalist architecture of the M4 motorway is made up of concrete pillars, metal piping and solid walls, which divide the town from southeast to northwest, dominating the physical landscape.\n\nAbout the Artist:\n\nNora Alissa graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London, with a distinction in the MA in Photography and Urban Cultures. She is now working on several projects which look at different aspects of lived experiences, including the everyday, space and culture. She also works as an art consultant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, helping to promote visual arts in the country.
