C Photo Making Movies celebrates the importance and relevance of imagery in the world of cinema. From film stills to production shots, publicity posters to the personal photography of film directors, this issue features an eclectic range of visual material and brings together work from a variety of independent artists and avant-garde filmmakers and cinematographers.

Collector: From Michael Hoppen’s personal collection: Margaret Bourke-White, Eikoh Hosoe, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Sarah Moon, Daido Moriyama, August Sander, Edward Steichen, Shomei Tomatsu, and Garry Winnogrand, amongst many others. Archive: A selection of images from Magnum Photo’s cinema collection, featuring work from such classic photographers as Eve Arnold, Inge Morath, Dennis Stock, David Seymour and Bruce Davidson, amongst others. Vintage: Swiss collector Christoph Schifferli offers a selection of images from his vintage Hollywood film stills archive. Guest: A contribution from the Spanish film director Pedro Almodóvar. C Action grants were awarded to the Spanish photographer Alfonso Zubiaga and the Estonian photographer Alexander Gronsky.
