Gravity

23 Feb 2016 to 14 May 2016

On 23 February Ivorypress presented two exhibitions: Gravity, by British artist Richard Long (Bristol, 1945), and an exhibition of the artists’ books published by the Library Council of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Throughout his career Richard Long has had solo exhibitions at Arnolfini, Bristol (2015); Faena Art Center, Buenos Aires (2014); Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin (2010); Tate Britain, London (2009); San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2006); National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto (1996); Philadelphia Museum of Art (1994) and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (1986), among many others. Long represented the United Kingdom at the 37th Venice Biennale (1976) and was awarded the Turner Prize in 1989. He received the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture in 1990 and was elected as member of the Royal Academy of Arts, London in 2001. In 2009 he received the Praemium Imperiale award in the field of sculpture and in 2013 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Ivorypress has worked with the artist on two publications: the artist’s book Walking and Sleeping, produced by Ivorypress in 2007, and Gravity, from the LiberArs series, in 2009.
