Vertical Paintings and Other Works

On 9 April Ivorypress Space hosted in Madrid an exhibition of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, the Russian-born and international artistic duo currently based in the United States. Under the title Vertical Paintings and Other Works, the show encompassed a wide selection of work that, through different techniques, makes references to art history and literature.

Their work is deeply rooted in the Soviet sociocultural context in which they lived during their youth; however, their pieces approach themes that are universally meaningful, such as utopia, fantasies, and human fears and dreams. In the exhibition, which will be open until 18 May, visitors to the gallery will find works produced from the late nineties to the present day.
