Bucky Fuller & Spaceship Earth

01 Sep 2010 to 30 Oct 2010

As part of its architecture programme held every year in September and October, Ivorypress Space, in collaboration with Foster + Partners, produced the exhibition Bucky Fuller & Spaceship Earth, the first exhibition in Spain on the visionary American architect, designer, philosopher, mathematician and cartographer. The exhibition was curated by architect Norman Foster, who collaborated with Fuller and had a close relationship with him during the last 12 years of his life, and Luis Fernández-Galiano, architect and Professor of Architecture at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). It examined Fuller’s work through a complete biographical study, from his pioneering Dymaxion House to his famous geodesic domes. The start of “Bucky’s” career coincided with the era of aerodynamics, a field which includes the design of balloons and aircraft to cars, trains and even the construction of houses.

This exhibition was held at Ivorypress Space from 1 September to 30 October and was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the following Institutions: The Art Institute of Chicago, USA; Buckminster Fuller, Sadao & Zung Architects, USA; Carl Solway Gallery, USA; The Estate of R. Buckminster Fuller, USA; Estate of Yousuf Karsh, USA; Foster + Partners, UK; Fuller and Sadao PC, USA; Norman Foster Foundation, UK; Norman and Elena Foster Collection, Switzerland; Southern Illinois University, USA; and Stanford University Libraries, USA.
