TRA, Edge of Becoming (Venecia)
The exhibition TRA, Edge of Becoming was on view at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice until 27 November 2011, with works by such pivotal international artists as Marina Abramovic, Francesco Clemente, Luisa Lambri, Man Ray, Giuseppe Penone and Gerhard Richter, among others. Two of the artist books published by Ivorypress were included among the works on exhibit: Richard Long, Walking and Sleeping, 2007 and Eduardo Chillida, Reflections, 2002.
The show was curated by Axel Vervoordt, president of the Vervoordt Foundation, in conjunction with Rosa Martínez, Francesco Poli and Daniella Feretti. TRA (a palindrome of ART) and the subtitle of the exhibition, Edge of Becoming, engage with the idea of frontier, viewing it as a space of transit, of process, of creative transformation. The themes of the exhibition were the intersection between different cultures, Venice as a gateway between East and West, as well as the representative theatrical dimension. It also deals with the threshold of the consciousness as a passage towards the imaginary and the unconscious, as well as the theatrical and conscious dimension as a threshold or door to the imaginary and the unconscious.
