Variaciones en España. Fotografía y arte 1900-1980

The book unites various photographs made in Spain by thirty-eight Spanish and foreign photographers in various historical moments. In three hundred images, we review various models of pre-modern photographic languages, the clear, precise transition to modernity, photography at the service of a wide political and cultural programme during the Republic, images of the Spanish Civil War, the post-war breach, new international documentarianism and the search for their own voices undertaken by Spanish photographers in the nineteen fifties, the arrival of colour in the sixties and seventies and finally the most experimental photography and the “new documents”.
