‘Much of what we see and observe in life is untouchable. The gift of painting is to make those untouchable things tangible to the imagination of a viewer looking at a painting.’ The correspondence between father and son, a collection of letters exchanged between the art critic and writer John Berger and the painter Yves Berger between 2015 and 2016, gives rise to a lucid dialogue around the relationship between painting and their experiences and emotions shared. Through images, words, memories and intuitions, father and son exchange impressions and questions about art, not as an object of knowledge and discourse, but as an opportunity to deepen the experience of the world and develop humility and patience in the face of to things.
