Three Centuries of American Prints from the National Gallery of Art in Washington highlights the most important movements in the history of art and printmaking in the United States from colonial times to the present. More than 100 artists are represented here, ranging from Paul Revere to James McNeill Whistler, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, George Bellows, Romare Bearden, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Helen Frankenthaler, Chuck Close and Kara Walker. The catalog includes contributions from twelve authors addressing a variety of topics in American art, as well as artist biographies and a glossary of printmaking terms.
