Toilet Paper is an artists magazine created and produced by Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari (Le Dictateur), born of a passion or obsession that both cultivate: images. Following the wake of Cattelan’s permanent cult publication, the magazine contains no text; Each image arises from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestration of people becomes the materialization of the mental outbursts of artists. From the first issue, in 2010, Toilet Paper has created a world that shows ambiguous narrations and a disturbing imagination. It combines the vernacular language of commercial photography with twisted narrative pictures and surreal images. The result is a publication that is in itself a work of art that, through its accessible form as a magazine and its wide distribution, challenges the limits of the contemporary art economy.
