Siza. Vieira
Álvaro Joaquim de Melo Siza Vieira (1933) is one of the architects who enjoys well-deserved international recognition and prestige.nHis architectural style identity stands out for the weaving buildings as if they were musical poetry. The style’s architectural hypersensitivity characterizes-itself by stressing importance of the landscape; this harbors a hidden structure from which the architect must draw the shape. Siza Vieira attaches special importance to the preliminary sketches for each project. He is a professor and lecturer at several universities worldwide and has received the most prestigious awards for architecture, such as the Pritzker Architecture Prize (1992), the RIBA Gold Medal (2009) and the UIA Gold Medal (2011). This monograph is a compilation of projects most representative and most current of his prolific creation.
