Sharkification – Special edition

Sharkification is the photographic record of the favelas of Vidigal, Rocinha, Alto de Boa Vista, Complexo de Alemão and Morro de Santa Marta – all in Rio de Janeiro – and proposes a debate following a project that began in Nigeria. In September 2015, the Spanish photographer Cristina de Middel spent a month in these five poor districts of the Brazilian metropolis, as a residence of the Inclusartiz Foundation, in a continuation of her project “This is what hatred did” that started in Nigeria. The photographer returned three times to the city to complete what the publishing house Magdalena is now launching in a photo album format titled “Sharkification”.
