Resistencia

The artistic career of Juan Genovés is deeply linked to movements contrary to the franchise regime in Spain: he has always believed that art must be committed to the problems of society, without neglecting that its form is emotional and even physically attractive.

His style is characterized by the use of flat colors and cinematographic compositions, with a dynamic use of perspective. In his paintings converges an intense anxiety and disorientation that touches the absurd, interwoven with human fragility. All this serves not only to explore political and social problems, but also the contradictions between the individual and the mass, which, as the title of the book suggests, form a broad concept of resistance.
