Présage
Hideyuki Ishibashi held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2013. Entitled Présage, it focused on the dilemma produced by todays plethora of digital images and its impact, most noticeably in the shortened attention we give individual images. Ishibashi used photographs found at antique markets, random postcards, shots from Google Street View, and anonymous online images, carefully disassociating them from previous meanings and combining them to create new images as a platform for the act of viewing itself. Part collage, part conceptual sketch, fully phantasmagorical, the photobook with its many foldout pages offers a wealth of visual stimulation and hidden meaning.
