Photographoary: Photo-Mad Old Man A Turning 77 on 5.25.17 Nobuyoshi Araki

Previously, Araki has affirmatively incorporated his aging process into his works to ceaselessly enrich his oeuvre. Araki, who has been confronted with, and overcome multiple illnesses such as prostate cancer and central retinal artery occlusion, which caused him to lose sight in his right eye, lives by transforming the changes in his body and life into fuel for photographing daily. Through this practice, he has produced an enormous number of new works. Like the person who grows more attractive with age, Arakis new work is more intensely charged with the Eros and Thanatos instincts than ever before.
