Paesaggi d aria. Luigi Ghirri e Yona Friedman/Jean-Baptiste Decavèle
A dialogue between architecture and photography, a lavish experimental comparison between great contemporary artists, Luigi Ghirri, Yona Friedman and Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, for a shared journey on the theme of landscape.
The books Paesaggi daria accompanies the exhibition of the same name held at the premises of the Querini Stampalia Foundation in Venice. The book features projects by Luigi Ghirri, Yona Friedman and Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, which interact and invite a natural comparison, a thread traced through Chiara Bertolas curation.
The Emilian photographs pictures, which have always depicted the landscape in its most open definition, connect well to the Yona Friedmans design of the Vigne Museum which rose up between Friulian vineyards in 2014, open, aerial, en plein air. Design that recalls the concept of memory, the desire to enclose, in one click or shape, the real present.
At the centre of the comparison is the Italian landscape, a space and a tradition that are subverted by these two artists who, with their work, surpass that touristic convention that always leaps out whenever we talk about heritage and museums.
