New, never opened. In original publisher’s box. New Photo was a seminal underground magazine that was published between 1996 and 1998 by Rong Rong and Liu Zheng. Ten years later, Carolina Nitsch presents this facsimile reprint of one of the forerunning publications of contemporary Chinese photography. The works featured in this publication played an instrumental role in the history and evolution of Chinese experimental photography. Some works demonstrate the gradual transition from photojournalism to conceptual photography, while other ‘staged’ images are more experimental in nature, complete with posed scenes, erotic material and darker social commentary.
