Lección de arte

Art Lesson can be interpreted in many ways, from its most literal meaning to its most ironic, because the project is also a “non-art lesson”. It is about how different audiences relate to art and the educational strategies implemented to help them connect more closely with art. We explore this by considering how knowledge is managed and created, and we invite audiences to think about who generates learning and where and why it is created, who receives it and how, how it is transmitted, and who confers authority on that knowledge.

Traditionally, exhibitions in museum contexts adopt a linear narrative. This project challenges that model and proposes new ways in which contemporary audiences, in this present moment and time, can look at objects/ artefacts from the past. Art Lesson is about liberating audiences and how, through their contributions, they can, if not change the idea of museums as we know them, at least transform their place in these institutions.
