Historias reales

La Fábrica is publishing Historias reales (True Stories), Sophie Calle’s classic, for the first time in Spanish. It also includes several unpublished stories that the artist has added to this edition. In this book, the French artist compiles 47 photographers with 47 biographical stories to create diptychs that dissolve the boundaries between genres: novel, photography book, personal diary… Developed between 1988 and 2003, this book is both an iconic sample of the way Sophie Calle approaches art and a reflection on art and the artist, on a work and its creator, on the role of the viewer. This is a delicate, uncomfortable volume which also forces the viewer to question the identities we adopt in life.
