Guardami, Il volto e lo sguardo nell’ arte 1969-2009. Look at me, Faces and Gazes in Art 1969-2009
This catalogue explores the theme of the face and the gaze in art from the end of teh Sixties to the present. Observing the extent to which the correspondence between the representation of a face and its subject has changed, and how recent technological innovations have modified its representation, the exhibition present a thorough analysis of how the face can be represented, its alterations and transfromations and in particular ist progressive depersonalization. The principle means for this analysis is the gaze itself, which is seen as the act which reveals the mistery of a face and its declensions. Featured artists include: Christian Boltanski, Gino De Dominicis, Richard Hamilton, Bruce Nauman, Arnulf Rainer, Gherard Richter, Thomas Ruff, Alex katz, Bill Viola, Andy Warhol.
