Joaquín Collado took his camera to the Barrio Chino in the heart of Valencia on one bright Sunday morning in 1972. On these crowded streets, full of men leering at the prostitutes who stroll there, he surreptitiously snaps black-and-white pictures of the bustling scene. Voluptuous bodies wait under archways and in doorways while shopkeepers and buskers ply their trade. Collado experiences the city as an authentic flâneur, discretely capturing every detail of the spectacle surrounding him as secret lives unfold. With a text by Armand Llàcer.
