Dahn: About Today

Signed and numbered by the author 15/18. From the very beginning Walter Dahns work has not been limited to traditional media but has rather connected painting, photography, drawing, silk-screen, objects, video and spatial installation. Dahn links all of these in a kind of project to explores the possibilities of artistic expression. This book highlights how the Cologne-based artist broaches the issue of the debatable status of painting in an intelligent way. Pop culture influences and the phenomena of the masses find their way into the artistic process, like references to the history of art.
The title “About Today” is a lyric borrowed from the band “The National” and aptly expresses what his individual works since 1994 present: new work and the here and now!
