CUENTO SUPREMATISTA SOBRE DOS CUADRADOS EN SEIS CONSTRUCCIONES

The Lissitzky (1890-1941), one of the leading figures of the Russian avant-garde, published? this Suprematist Tale about two squares in six constructions in 1922, in full effervescence of suprematism and constructivism. As a children’s story, the book was meant to be an encouragement for active play, encouraging children to compose, paint and build. As a fable for adults, On two cudadrados (as it is commonly known) can function as a polytheistic allegory or as a metaphor for the dia- logy between the cohesive conceptions of suprematism and the new “constructivist” ideas in the typographic field. Its original publication is framed in the great eclosion of the typography, photomontage and photobook in the Soviet Union during the period between 1913 and 1941.
The CBA edition faithfully reproduces the original, to which it adds a brief prologue and a page with translations of the Russian texts.
