Chai Wan Fire Station
One day, working in my office, I discovered that the window in my bathroom was overlooking the Chai Wan firestation. The view had much more to offer than I had originally imagined.
These humble words describe the beginning of a critically acclaimed (Hong Kong Photo Book Award 2015, Tokyo International Foto Award 2016) series shot by Hongkong-based photographer Chan Dick.
It so happened that the bathroom window of my workshop looked right over Chai Wan Fire Station, and offered a vantage point for an omniscient view of whatever was going on down there: assemblies, washing up fire engines, pupils visits, volleyball games. That tiny window opened up a brand new chapter of a curious journey.
After the original and strictly limited publication became a success in the Asian photography world, the series is now finally available again in a new high-quality photobook issued by Tokyo-based Case Publishing.
