Doctor in Architecture from the University of Valladolid and Doctor in Art History from the University of Zaragoza. Professor of Landscape Architecture in the Department of Architecture of the University of Alcalá de Henares. Since 1993, he has been an art critic in the newspaper El País. He directed the Art and Nature program of the Diputación de Huesca and the publications published under that title, as well as the courses on Landscape of the CDAN-Beulas de Huesca Foundation in the period 2006 and 2010.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Reina Sofía National Art Center and a member of the international scientific committee of Les carnets du paysage.
Among his books are El espacio raptado. Interferences between architecture and sculpture (Mondadori, 1990), The loss of the pedestal (Circle of Fine Arts-Viewer, 1994), The landscape. Genesis of a concept (Abada, 2005) o The idea of ??space in contemporary architecture and art, 1960-1989 (Akal, 2008).
