Presentation of the series: “The Trivial Essays” by Cristóbal Hara
22 June 2016, 7 p.m.
Ivorypress invited you to the presentation of Cristóbal Hara’s series The Trivial Essays, on 22 June. The author will discuss his work together with the editor of Ediciones Anómalas, Montse Puig; and José Manuel Navia, photographer.
The language of photography, and in particular the language of photography when used in a documentary way, is subject to multiple rules and conventions. Cristóbal Hara’s work approaches the search for alternatives to the conventions of his time. The essay format used in his Trivial Essays (published in a bilingual edition in English and Spanish), which is more concise than that of a book, allows him to isolate and deal with different aspects of the photographic profession, which he illustrates with images produced over the course of his career, which spans more than forty years, some of them well-known and others previously unpublished.
The Trivial Essays series includes three books so far: Archipelago, Hide and Seek and The Trojan Horse.
