Launch of ArtStack in Spain
On 15 February at 10 a.m. Ivorypress will host the launch of the Spanish version of ArtStack, the online platform for art. This new social network specialising in the visual arts allows users to share and engage with the art they love.
The launch of the Spanish version of ArtStack will kick off with a panel discussion with participants such as Zaryn Dentzel, founder and CEO of Tuenti, Spain’s largest social network; Sarah McCrory, director of the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art; Aaron Moulton, senior curator of the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and curator of Analogital and James Lindon, co-founder of ArtStack.
The platform—which was available in two versions up until now: English and Chinese—allows its users to discover art through friends and acquaintances and to remember artworks that inspire them. The ArtStack community has added artworks by twenty thousand artists to the platform, which includes internationally recognised artists, curators, writers, creative thinkers and art enthusiasts from across a hundred sixty countries.
According to ArtStack cofounder James Lindon, the mission of this resource is ‘to make it easy to discover and engage with great art from around the globe. From Mexico City to Madrid, there is an engaged and fast-growing community sharing incredible art across the Spanish-speaking world. A tremendous amount of exciting activity is taking place in both Spain and Latin America and we wanted to create an even better experience for these art lovers’.
Users can browse and add images to their ‘stack’ of art to create their own personal art profile; they can follow anyone on the platform to see the art they like and discover new works. ArtStack’s website and iPhone app enable users to remember the art they love and discover new pieces through their friends and people they follow. ‘We believe the best way to discover art is through people’, states an ArtStack representative.
ArtStack’s website and iPhone app—available for free from the App Store—complement existing offline art experiences: the ArtStack iPhone app enables users to photograph and remember art they see wherever they are—whether at an art fair, a gallery, in an artist’s studio, on the street or in their own homes.
