Ivorypress invites you to the launch of Criterios sobre la Historia del Arte with the author, Kosme de Barañano in conversation with José Manuel Ballester, artist and winner of the Art National Prize; Lulu Figueroa, painter; Petra Joos, director of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and Silvia Lindner, director of the Würth Museum in La Rioja.
What does the history of art take on, with which tools and how is it understood? These are some of the questions placed by the author and answered in this significant and necessary essay.
Kosme de Barañano is Art History professor (University of Elche, University of Pais Vasco, University of Heildelberg, IUAV Venice). He has worked at the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C. (1986), he has also been deputy director of Museum Reina Sofia (1989-1990) and manager of the IVAM, Valencia (2000-2004). He has curated more than 70 exhibitions (and published their catalogs) in Europe, USA or Japan such as exhibitions on Alberto Giacometti, Eduardo Chillida, Philip Guston, Max Beckmann, Charles Simonds etc.
