LIVING WITH MATISSE, PICASSO AND CHRISTO

4 / 02 / 2020

On 27 February Ivorypress hosted the book launch of Living with Matisse, Picasso and Christo: Theodor Ahrenberg and His Collections. Staffan Ahrenberg, publisher of Cahiers d’Art, and Erling Kagge, writer, art collector, and author of the book A Poor Collector’s Guide to Buying Great Art, will talk about the history of one of the most prestigious art collections of the twentieth century.

Staffan Ahrenberg was born in Sweden and grew up in Switzerland. He is the publisher of Éditions Cahiers d’Art, one of the world’s most distinguished visual arts publishing houses, founded by Christian Zervos in 1926. Cahiers d’Art works directly with artists or their estates to create a revue, books, catalogues raisonnés, limited-editions books and prints—each of which is a celebration of the artists’ individual character and vision.

Erling Kagge is a Norwegian lawyer and writer. He was half of the two-man expedition to first reach the North Pole unsupported in 1990—the other half was his countryman Børge Ousland. Between 1992 and 93, he became the first person to walk to the South Pole alone, and, in 1994, Kagge summited Mount Everest, becoming the first to complete the Three Poles Challenge. Today, he runs the Oslo-based publishing house Kagge Forlag, collects international contemporary art, and serves on the board of the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art.
