Jerónimo Elespe at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Gas Natural Fenosa (A Coruña, Spain)
The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Gas Natural Fenosa (MAC) presents the exhibition and publishing project 2014 / Antes de irse. Ideas sobre la pintura (2014/ Before we go. Ideas about painting), curated by David Barro. 2014 introduces a generation of artists under 40 from or living in Spain, who have found a way to redefine what we understand by contemporary painting today.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public until 30 March 2014, shows selected works by seven artists—Miren Doiz, Jerónimo Elespe, Philipp Fröhlich, Santiago Giralda, Laura González Cabrera, Guillermo Mora and Alain Urrutia—representing seven tendencies or ways of understanding contemporary painting, in which contamination has become a core element: a post-painting painting which has come to terms with the fact that it is now not a technique but a tradition, an idea which is able to constantly reinvent itself. The show, which presents several site-specific works and others created especially for the project, will begin with a conversation between the curator and the artists taking part.
