Opening: Urethra Postcard Pictures

On 14 April, 2011 the artists Gilbert & George (Dolomites, Italy.1943 / Devon, England. 1942) presented their latest work from The Urethra Postcard Pictures project at Ivorypress Space I.

In 2009, nearly four decades after their first exhibition of postcard art and almost twenty years since they last used this format, Gilbert & George returned to postcards as a medium in order to create a group of 564 new pieces, under the title of The Urethra Postcard Pictures. This was the single largest group of art works made by Gilbert & George to date and, in turn, comprised seven individual groups of new postcard pictures. Ivorypress showcased 76 of these works in an exhibition designed especially by the artists themselves.
This exhibition closed on 14 May, 2011.
